Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Article By: Pastor Will Matherly
I am sure you have all heard the statement, “Actions Speak Louder
Than Words”. I would like to take a deep look into this statement in a Biblical way.
Jesus Himself was an Example
as the Apostle Paul called him in (1st Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving
us an example, that ye should follow his steps). He showed us how we should conduct ourselves, How we should live, walk, trust,
heal the sick, raise the dead, give sight to the blind and the list could go on and on. Jesus showed us we Need to Love one
another, Not in Word, But in Action and deed. Jesus was a man of Action, He knew that every Action he made, Would bring a
Reaction from God in Return. (power to heal, touch hearts, ETC)
What does it mean to follow. By Definition the word
Follow means; (1) To keep under surveillance by moving along behind: (2) To act in conformity with: abide by, adhere,
carry out, comply, conform, keep, mind, obey, observe. (3) To take as a model, conform to a model: copy, emulate, imitate,
model (on, upon. or after), pattern (on, upon. or after). Idioms: follow in the footsteps of, follow suit, follow the example
of.
Our modern world makes it Hard to keep instep with Jesus. We have so many obstacles pulling us away, Bills, Car/Home
Payments, Jobs, Children, ETC. But Jesus By Example showed us what to do here as well. Jesus left his home and all he knew
to Follow his Fathers Direction for his life. He went to 12 other men, and said, Follow Me. Can you imagine if You or I went
down to the docks, and found a fisherman, the Tax office for another and ETC, Then said, Hey I am a Christian, God has shown
me a plan, I need your help, Leave all you have and Follow Me!! Friends, They would Lock us in a Mental Hospital and KEEP
us there. That seems foolish if we apply it to our selves. But the Bible says , ( 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the
foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things
which are mighty;).
I will leave you with this Final thought, What Desire has God placed in your heart, How foolish
does it seem, and are you willing to Present yourself as a living sacrifice as the Apostle Paul asked us to do in ( Romans
12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, which is your reasonable service.) The definition of Beseech is; To make an earnest or urgent request: appeal,
beg, crave, entreat, implore, plead, pray, supplicate. In other words, The Apostle Paul Begged, Plead, Prayed and Appealed
to us to present ourselves a Living Sacrifice to God. Then he goes on to say in Romans 12:2 (And be not conformed to this
world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.)
So I will end here with this final thought, What are our Actions saying about us ? And are our Actions
bringing a Positive or Negative Reaction back from God. After all, Actions Do speak louder than words.

Always, Pastor Will and the Covenant Family
